No doubt you will have heard it said more than once that everyone, all together, makes Barcelona’s Festa Major what it is. This year, though, the claim is truer than ever, as La Mercè 2017 includes a number of activities where the audience is as important as the artists themselves.
Follow La Mercè’s social networks closely, because you will soon start to find calls for really active people and those who want to put their talent to the test. A number of events are involved, with castings organised for a series of competitions and exhibitions that will take place during the festivities. Keep up with developments, and if a call goes out for talented volunteers, don’t hesitate to apply!
But you don’t have to be a great dancer, circus artiste or musician to be a star at La Mercè. This year, in fact, everyone can play a leading role, as many festival venues will host workshops teaching different artistic skills (some linked to dance, some to other art forms). Then, at the end, you can put what you have learned to the test, becoming a star at the city’s Festa Major.
Visit the venues for La Mercè and you will meet many artistes devoted to street or stage art who need your participation to perform numbers or, for example, to organise a flash mob. Let yourself go and enjoy a festival that – if only for a moment – turns you into a star. Because, this year, La Mercè is more devoted than ever to audience participation.
And to end the night, come to the finest pub of Barcelona! The George Payne!
